67 hectares of vines conducted in organic farming spread over more than 100 plots were harvested. Like 2021 in terms of volume, the white wines present a good juice yield. Altogether, 22 white appellations and 20 red appellations were harvested. The reds began on September 16th and ended on the 25th and the whites were from the 17th to the 24th. We used to start with the whites on the previous years.
A complicated vintage: The challenge of weather conditions
The Weather was unstable from pruning, with frequent rain favoring diseases like mildew, against which we had to fight using organic methods. However, September was more favorable, providing a boost in grape maturity. We had to be extremely watchful during sorting the grapes, a key step to have quality juice for both white and red wines.
A smooth and quick vinification
Thanks to reasonable potential alcohol levels (around 12 to 13% vol.), the fermentations started quickly and without issues. The first red wine completed fermentation by September 29th, closely followed by other appellations, while the fermentations of the white wines are already coming to an end.
A loyal harvest team!
Among the 137 grape-pickers, we were delighted to see friendly faces at the sorting table and in the vineyards, all with contagious good mood!
The 2024 vintage is small. It promises to be fresh and tasty for the reds, and elegant for the whites. The balance will be defined during the ageing process in barrels for over 15 months, which will be crucial for the quality of the vintage.
