After a season marked by capricious weather, with heavy rain, mildew, and irregular climate, the 2024 vintage is characterized by its freshness, precision, and finesse.
The wet, unstable spring challenged the vines. Modest yields but constant attention to the plots helped to preserve what was essential: quality. In September, we began closely monitoring ripeness, plot by plot. Harvesting began on 16th September for our Beaune Premier Cru Fèves and Volnay Premier Cru Clos des Chênes and ended on 25th September for our Savigny-Lès-Beaune reds.
In the cellar, the vinification was rigorous. The reds went through a 5-day pre-fermentation cold maceration, followed by slow fermentations, with little punching down and gentle pumping over to develop the finesse of the tannins.
The whites were pressed in whole bunches, then fermented in oak barrels, with ageing on lees adapted to the personality of each terroir.
The tasting reveals a seductive vintage. The reds are smooth, elegant, and fruity, and the whites are beautifully fresh, with a well-crafted structure and a strong aromatic expression. A vintage to enjoy in its early years, but one that will also stand the test of time.
